Chief Minister of Bihar Nitish Kumar on Sunday said Nepal could emerge as the richest country in South Asia if it exploits its rich water resources by setting up more power plants.
Interacting with Nepali journalists over a luncheon at his official residence in Bihar state capital Patna, Kumar further said that the Bihar government is also willing to buy any excess amount of electricity from Nepal that is left after local consumption.
He further said both Bihar and neighbouring Nepal can prevent recurrent floods that take hundreds of lives and cause millions of rupees in losses every year if the rivers in Nepal are managed by building embankments for the purpose of generating power and irrigation.
The Bihar chief minister said that Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai’s goodwill visit to Patna to inaugurate the Global Bihar Summit on Friday was a “significant gesture” which Bihar will never forget. nepalnews.com

responses to ( India Minister said "Nepal can emerge as richest country in South Asia..." )
Nepal can be a Rich country in south Asia if we just properly handle Rivers and Lands
It is fact and the true...
Nepal can be a Rich country in south Asia if we just properly handle Rivers and Lands.
We must save Forest and use very systematically (if we use tree for lumber business, then we must cultivation tree 5 times higher than cutting trees.) Trees bring Rain and save eco-life cycles. Nepal can be rich if we control and use forest scientifically and well manage on forests.
We must save Terai cultivation fertile lands from destroying by building concert buildings and other constructions. If we destroy cultivation land one time, then we can not revive land again for fertile cultivation as quickly as needed. Example kathmandu, Bakhatapur, kritipur, chitwan etc. Rice is tool of survival and economy generator of Nepal. To grow rice, land has to be 110% fertile. Allow build cities and building in unfertile lands and save the fertile lands. Nepal can be rich if we manage scientifically and systematically to our lands, method of cultivation with modern machinery, control market price of food supply business etc.
Save Nepal’s Rivers by Indian interventions and political manipulation where they fully control all Nepali rivers. That means they build their own water dam, use water when they needed, generate their own hydro electric city and control power supply. India totally controlling Nepali River resources where India benefit 98% and only Nepal receive 2% benefit from it. Nepal can be rich if we control all Nepali Rivers and produce huge hydro power which Nepal can sell to all neighboring countries.
