Nepali Congress senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba Thursday sought clear views of the UCPN (Maoist) on federalism accusing that the Maoist leaders were against the federal set up.
“Maoist chairman himself said that Chitwan district will remain undivided,” the former Prime Minster added, “Maoist leaders are creating obstruction by giving speech about undivided Karnali, Far Western region, Palpa, Syanja, Nawalparasi. In such situation, how can country adopt federalism?”
He demanded that Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai should make clear whether they really want federalism.
Ruling out possibility of the country adopting federalism, he demanded that existing 75 districts should be converted into federal provinces. He also said that 1990 constitution can be adopted by revising some clauses if news constitution is not promulgated on time. nepalnews.com ...
