Daily life has been adversely affected in Mechi and Koshi zones due to the bandh (shutdown strike) called by Rastriya Janamorcha protesting against the federal set up on Thursday.
Shops and businesses in the main market places including educational institutions, factories and industrial areas have been shut down since early morning in the affected districts of the two eastern zones of Nepal.
The shut down has affected eastern Terai and hilly districts - Ilam, Taplejung, Dhankuta, Jhapa, Panchthar, Bhojpur, Morang and Sunsari.
The vehicular movements in the affected districts have also come to a standstill as both long and short route vehicles remained off the road due to fear of attacks by bandh enforcers.
Janamorcha has been organising phase-wise protests against federal structure, saying that such a move will divide the country.
It has also been demanding that proposed federalism be scrapped and election at the local bodies be held as soon as possible.
Last week, Janamorcha had imposed shutdown strike in far western districts Doti, Dadeldhura, Baitadi and Achham districts. nepalnews.com ...
