KATHMANDU, MAY 08 - At a time when the major three parties have been trying to forge consensus on the issues of state restructuring, the leaders of Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha (SLMM) have hinted towards strengthening their movement for an autonomous state.
The meeting of the five parties, within the SLMM, has decided not to let go their movement. “We will not accept any proposal that links the Madhes with any other states. Tarai would stay as it is,” said Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Loktantrik General Secretary Jitendra Dev.
Saying that Madhes as a different state is also mentioned in the interim constitution, Dev said that there would be no compromises.
Speaking in a different context, MJF-L General Secretary Dev said that UML is hindering the constitution process by boycotting the government. He claimed that the UML has no choice but to join the government as it has already signed the five-point deal.
“UML is hindering the process. We SLMM leaders urge the UML leaders to join in the spirit of agreement,” said Dev.
