The Mohan Baidya faction of the UCPN (Maoist) has demanded resignation of party chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai for the failure to save the Constituent Assembly.
"Dahal should resign as party chairman as his leadership has proved to be a complete failure," party secretary and Baidya faction leader C.P Gajurel said, adding that Dahal was mainly responsible for the CA's demise.
According to him, the Baidya faction is going to formally seek resignation of the party chairman and launch street protests to bring the Bhattarai government down. "We will announce the protest programmes in a day or two," said he.
Meanwhile, the Maoist standing committee is to meet Monday afternoon to work out the party's strategy after the dissolution of the Constituent Assembly and announcement of fresh CA elections in November.
The SC meeting is to take place at Prime Minister Bhattarai's Baluwatar residences. Party sources said the hardliner Baidya faction is all set to boycott the meeting as before. nepalnews.com ...
